Carter & Hatcher Consulting, LLC* was founded in 2007 by Lara A. Carter and Shelley L. Hatcher. After having both worked for large public accounting firms and large consulting firms and accumulating over 25 years of combined experience, we decided to focus our efforts on providing accounting and finance solutions to small businesses. Carter & Hatcher is committed to providing responsive, professional and flexible bookkeeping and financial consulting services at a cost that will work for your business.

We serve clients in almost every industry, including oil and gas, manufacturing, retail, non-profit and construction. Our clients also include professional service companies such as medical practices, law firms, photographers, personal trainers and accounting firms as well as privately held investment partnerships and family trusts. Our professionals are highly trained in all versions of Quickbooks and we also have experience with other accounting software platforms such as Sage/Peachtree, Creative Solutions, Juris, Xero and LexisNexis.

Carter & Hatcher provides services such as new business accounting system set-up, general bookkeeping, monthly account reconciliation and review, financial statement analysis, assistance in budgeting and planning processes, assistance with audit/review preparation, fraud investigation, forensic accounting and many other accounting and consulting services. Lara A. Carter, Managing Director

Lara A. Carter - Carter & Hatcher Consulting, LLCMs. Carter has a B.S. in accounting and an MBA from Louisiana State University. She is a certified public accountant, licensed in Texas as well as a certified fraud examiner. Ms. Carter has over seven years experience providing a variety of accounting, litigation, valuation and other financial consulting services. Prior to forming Carter & Hatcher Consulting, Ms. Carter served as a Director in the Forensic and Litigation Consulting Practice of FTI Consulting and an auditor within a Big Four accounting firm. Ms. Carter’s past experience consists of accounting system development, bookkeeping services, accounting file clean-up and reconciliation, audit preparation and the application of financial and accounting analyses in litigation and accounting investigation engagements. Her industry experience includes, but is not limited to the, oil & gas, construction, manufacturing, cosmetic, medical, financial services, non-profit, retail and professional services industries.

Since forming Carter & Hatcher Consulting, Ms. Carter has been providing accounting consulting, outsourced controller and litigation services to clients in various industries. She is proficient in all Microsoft Office products and has a strong knowledge of QuickBooks as well as other accounting software applications.

Shelley L. Hatcher, Managing Director

Shelley L. Hatcher - Carter & Hatcher Consulting, LLCMs. Hatcher has a B.B.A. in accounting and finance from Texas A&M University. She is a certified public accountant, licensed in Texas. Ms. Hatcher has over ten years experience providing a variety of accounting, litigation, valuation and other financial consulting services. Prior to forming Carter & Hatcher Consulting, Ms. Hatcher was a Director in the Forensic and Litigation Consulting Practice of FTI Consulting. Prior to her employment with FTI Consulting, Ms. Hatcher was a manager in the litigation consulting divisions of two national accounting firms. Ms. Hatcher’s past experience consists of the application of financial and accounting analyses in litigation and accounting investigation engagements. Her industry experience includes, but is not limited to the, oil & gas, steel, cosmetic, medical device, waste, retail, construction, restaurant and professional services industries.

Kelley Sauer, Manager

Kelley Sauer - Carter & Hatcher Consulting, LLCMs. Sauer has a B.B.A. in management from University of Houston. Prior to joining Carter & Hatcher Consulting, Ms. Sauer was self-employed performing bookkeeping for various industries including, but not limited to pipeline, construction, restaurant, medical and professional services. Ms. Sauer has a strong background in accounting and budgeting for oil & gas drilling companies.

Since joining Carter & Hatcher Consulting, Ms. Sauer has been providing bookkeeping, accounting consulting and oversight management services to clients in various industries. She is proficient in all Microsoft Office products and has a strong knowledge of QuickBooks as well as other accounting software applications. Ms. Sauer has extensive experience with full-charge bookkeeping responsibilities, including payroll, inventory, accounts receivable and cash management.
